Unless there’s some specific problem that you had and already fixed—like a low GPA you improved—then rushing only gets harder for sophomores, especially ones who already went through once. The chances that you’re going to get a bid from a more competitive house who didn’t bid you this year are slim. Not impossible, but it’s not something you should be counting on. Mostly the question you need to be asking is whether you’d rather be in the sorority you’re in or no sorority. As for how the experience changes in low or high tier houses, it really depends on the house. Some of the lower-tier sororities have lighter social calendars but some don’t. You’re probably less likely to mix with the highest tier of frats. You will probably have to deal with some mild judgment from other people (but honestly, as this site shows, you’d deal with that in higher tier sororities too; it’d just be different judgments.) For the most part you’ll discover that there are great people across tiers, and your experience doesn’t differ much beyond that.
