This might be one of the least-informed things I've read on here. Of course all the numbers are in the same range---there was a quota based on the girls attending pref and signing bid cards. The computer system used makes sure that all the houses get as even a number of pledges as possible (while taking into account house totals and other factors). Houses that fell short either had girls decline their bid OR the girls highest on their bid lists put them lower or last on their final ranks. Or, the house misjudged and cut too hard so that they had a lesser pool to draw from in the first place. It's just math. Pledge class size has A LOT less to do with popularity, recruiting ability or an evening/plateauing of the ranks than what your implying. As much as I don't like it, the ranks/tiers are still strongly present in our greek system. Whomever said that there's a blurring in the middle is correct, but the difference between top and bottom is still pretty clear. And, for the record, I'm a member of one of the blurry middle houses. Also, I had heard from several people in the know that initially 4 houses DID NOT make quota, so I'm guessing that some of these #s include snap bids or COB.
