It varies year to year. I'm a sophomore, so I only know about last year and what I've heard about years past. So here's a summary: Informal: Theta, Tridelta, AXiD, Sometimes APhi, Sometimes PiPhi, Sometimes SDT, Sometimes XO COB: Sometimes APhi, Sometimes DG (not last year, but apparently the 2 years before that), Sometimes PiPhi, Sometimes SDT, Sometimes XO, Sometimes AXO (I heard they COB'd several years ago, but don't have any hard confirmation) So, basically, the only houses that haven't participated in Informal/COB in the past 5 years or so are GPhi, Kappa, AEPhi and (possibly) AXO. There's no shame in informal/COB. Different houses do it for different reasons. I've heard that some nationals make you do it if your chapter has spots to fill, even if it's just a few. Also, I've heard some chapters recognize super seniors as active members, so if they graduate in December, then a chapter will have a bunch of spots to fill for spring. Of course, often a chapter may have drops from fall, but I honestly don't think that's a huge deal, either. Greek life isn't for everyone. I rushed in the spring, and highly recommend it. I felt like it was more intimate, and people got to know me better. Fall was just more superficial, I though.
