1. the lower frat will get forced out (unless handled well which doesnt happen for the lower frats that were bottom of the bottom and are willing to give everything up to move up) 2. in the last five years, no merged frat has ever had a "bad" rush 3. the sororitys that the higher frat mixed with before are still mixed with 4. mergers with irresponsible frats WILL ruin both frats (zbtke/why pikapp didnt accept zbt) Overall, things are pretty much guaranteed to go well externally. Internally, a frat is ruined unless the original frat maintains power, but a toxic frat will ruin everything (all based on old psi u/asig, sammy/dchi, chi psi/xi, sig/dke, and zbtke so far).
