I firmly disagree. I dropped as a first year and rushed sophomore year and am very happy with my decision. These lower and mid-tier houses are just desperate for legs (and $$$$), so they fill these boards with fear-based propaganda. Rushing as a sophomore is fine. Study hard freshman year, meet a lot of people, make friends with girls in houses you want to rush next fall. Easy peasy.
