dsig was planning to have an egyptian themed welcome week party that was quickly shut down because someone complained about it. I feel like we were introduced to so many cultures at a young age in school and encouraged to celebrate and learn about different histories, fashions, architecture, etc, and now no one is allowed to step outside the boundaries of their own individualized background.. just confused by this. Are people going to start complaining about hawaiian, toga, and fiesta themed events? Wheres the line between oppression and celebration? Disclaimer: I genuinely just want to hear other opinions and voices, i'm not saying these themes are or are not inappropriate, just tryig to start a dialogue amongst greek community
