Setting all of that aside, the fact that you're saying right now, as an incoming freshman who's probably never met a Tulane sorority girl, that you want to be in a "top house" is not good. It sounds like you're only rushing for the social status and not because you want to meet and make friends that will last a lifetime. One of two things usually happen to the girls that go into recruitment with this mentality: 1) They'll get anywhere from immediately dropped to relatively far into the process before the top houses realize you'd be a better fit elsewhere. It's nothing mean or personal - if we don't think you'd be happy in our chapter, we drop you. From there you can either decide to keep an open mind and continue with the rest of recruitment, and eventually wind up in a great house that you would've been much happier in anyway, or you can resolve to rush again Sophomore year and try for a top tier house a second time (spoiler alert: if you didn't get a bid your freshman year, you definitely won't get a bid as a sophomore) 2) They'll somehow make it through the process, get a bid to a top house, and it won't be as glamorous on the other side as they imagined. The girls that rush strictly for status almost inevitable wind up dropping at some point because they're disappointed with what life in the sorority is actually like.
