Quota system and numbers

Poster Message:
The quota system is instituted by Panhellenic and the university admin but it is set at 30-35 this year to ensure that the most popular sororities don't et 50 girls while the least popular might get 10. The pref parties had between 35-100+ girls depending on how you count drop outs- that is, girls who were invited tompref but didn't make it for personal reasons. A few girls always drop out pref night. If you were at pref, look around the room and count PNMs and then triple that number. Pref party lists are staggered so not a lot of girls were, for example Chi O and AChiO prefs but rather a somewhat mix of the nun chapters, like Chi O and Phi Mu or Chi O and DG. PNMs should not "suicide" by listing only one chapter as this may not improve their chances of getting that chapter. Snap bids are an insurance policy to catch good girls who somehow fell off the chapter list and did not go to rush. They are rare but not a bad thing- great girls always get lost in the process. That part really sucks. Certainly 2/3 of chapters at AU will easily meet quota. If you are a granddaughter, daughter, or sister legacy and you went back for pref, you have a guaranteed bid. Over 400 PNMs started rush but 12 dropped out after day one, and possibly 20+ dropped out day two, and didn't go to pref.
