Quota was 29 girls.. (meaning the number of girls who went thru round 4/preference - divided by the number of chapters participating). Chapters cant add more then this number thru the formal process. KD, Alpha Phi, AZD and ADPi made quota. PHA sets the chapter size. It is currently set at 144. Meaning - chapters can be 144 members max... So - if a chapter made quota - but still total membership (pledges + actives) is less then 144 (perhaps they had more the typical number of members graduated in December) - they can participate in COB (think of it like the IFC - informal rush) - and they can offer bids to whomever (girls who didn't even go thru primary recruitment)... so long as the chapter size doesn't get above 144.. And SK - did get 5 members thru primary... perhaps they can open bid alot more members - as folks have mentioned ADPi did a few yrs ago... But it is very possible - that if this is a pattern - they may decide to close down.. There comes a time - when you've tried several semesters or years - as well as perhaps financial (house) and u need a certain number to just operate.. AXD and GPB both closed down at points in the past - and have returned in the past 10 years.. although this may be a trend.. quota was 50 girls - 5 years ago. 30 in Jan 2023, and now 29 today Jan 24... that's a big drop. only 667 girls started in primary recruitment... Yeah - GreekRank may only care about the top houses... but remember - for every list - someone is at top -and someone is at the bottom.. So loosing chapters isn't a good thing.. if the overall numbers shrink - there becomes less and less of a reason for new students (freshman fall 24) to join.. Why bother paying.. U can take the $1000 or more and have a great semester - going to CStone, Bents, etc.. every Thur, Fri & Sat night for a semester - for the same amount u spend on dues for a semester...
