most of these comments seem like they’re from people who rushed over 5 years ago. recruitment is a much more welcoming and inclusive experience now. all chapters got rid of the legacy policy and don’t give a crap anymore what chapter your mom or sister was in unless your sister is currently/recently in the same chapter at UMD. i’m a senior now so i rushed in 2019. im not the hottest or most popular girl by any means and i didn’t know anyone in the chapters when i was going through rush. the only house that dropped me throughout the entire process was aopi. i’m now in a top tier and have experienced recruitment from my chapter’s perspective 3 years in a row. having a friend in the chapter won’t help you unless you’re friends with dozens of girls in the chapter. if you dress decent and look put together, you’ll be fine for the appearance aspect. recruiters are much much more interested in what you have to say and what kind of person you are. be outgoing, confident, bubbly, cool and you will be on the list for all of these chapters.
