For those interested in applying to McGill who care about greek life or who know they are going and want to fill the time till they get here obsessing over all the details, here’s how it actually is. Rankings are based on traditional standards for top mid bottom etc, if you aren’t traditional then these aren’t yours but that doesn’t mean they aren’t what girls are likely asking when they want to know the rankings. Top- Gamma Phi Kappa Gamma and Kappa are interchangeable depending on what you’re looking for. Both are very active ang engaged and if you’re looking for greek to be your world here’s where it’s at. Both party hard although Gamma is definitely ahead in that category. Kappa is classier not to say Gamma is classless but it’s a spectrum. Both are very popular and filled with attractive girls most of whom are who you’d expect to go greek or at least who you wouldn’t be surprised to see in a top house, and any who don’t totally look it make up for with personality that covers the difference easily. Top Mid- Theta Honestly any given year Theta could pull up into top depending on how well they do at recruitment, their issue is they aren’t quite as energetic or classic sorority vibe so that turns off some girls who aren’t interested in hearing that “McGill greek is nothing like American greek at ALL”. If you’re looking for classic look at the top. Theta is more focused academically, you can find that in any sorority but they prioritize it the most, they have the highest panhellenic GPA, etc. There’s going to be more off brand type girls here. Generally still lots of attractive girls, a few fandoms mixed in and a good amount of nuetrals. They party but with the off brand girls comes off brand partying sometimes. Mid A O Pi Honestly they are kind of nondescript. Some pretty girls, lots of not particularly pretty girls, no clear vibe that other houses whether sorority or frat particularly connect with. They aren’t at risk for being top anytime soon but they are pretty constant where they are. If you’re looking for a lowkey greek experience rather than what people usually look for, here you are. Bottom- Alpha Phi They just started a little bit back so they don’t have a house and the girls are an odd mix of anyone they could find. Who knows how they’ll turn out but right now they can’t be choosy and so there is no real vision or energy that you can get into the way the top ones draw you. And, with the no choosiness they get a lot of girls you never would’ve expected to see in a sorority.
