Recs

Here's why recs are so important: 1. Recs allow in house girls to get to know you better. They know you better, you get paired with girls you have more in common with, having stuff in common, better convo, more likely to come back the next day. 2. Cuts are HEAVY the first couple days. Unfortunately, houses have to look for almost any reason they can to not ask girls back because they have so many to weed through to get down to their ~70 person PC. This is done through grades, reputation, etc. BUT, also through recs. In the sororities' eyes, why should they keep you around if you couldn't put in the effort to just get a rec letter? 3. Houses could make up entire PCs just of legacies and their top girls. If you don't have a rec you're most likely not a top girl...why would they give up a top girl spot for a girl they don't know well and didn't get a letter? I'm in a "top" house and probably 95% of girls that pledge had a rec letter. There's maybe 2 or 3 in each PC that didn't have a letter but made such a fantastic impression that they stuck around. I know it can be hard to find rec letters, but you should really do everything you can to find letters for as many houses as possible. You're only doing yourself a favor!
