Subject:
reposting from an old thread

Poster Message:
this is a repost from a thread I thought was really important from a few years ago. Even though the thread eventually turned into a ridiculous funnel rank conversation, the original message is still true: "Can we please stop saying that XYZ sorority is all rejects of ABC sorority? It's ridiculous, and is such a bad impression for the PNMs. There's no way that every single girl in whatever "top" sorority had a perfect rush where they didn't have to go back to a single house that they ranked last and got exactly what they wanted. In recruitment, PNMs have little to no control over who they go to, so it's impossible for any girl to say "I dropped XYZ sorority". They may have dropped her too! She may have been dropped by a sorority she didn't click with, or one she might have actually liked, even if it wasn't "top". Each sorority is looking for different things, but they're all full of amazing girls, and PNMs would be lucky to be sisters with such women. PNMs, trust me: no sorority sits around at chapter each week sighing and wondering why they weren't all given a bid to a chapter they're apparently "rejects" from. Every sorority has so many girls who actually love each other and their organizations. If they actually were so unhappy, they would have all dropped and that sorority would have been removed from campus for low numbers by now. You WILL find your home if you go into it with an open mind. If you really have a question, ask your Pi Rho Chis. They're specifically trained to be unbiased and help you find where you're meant to be! Good luck and Pan Love!" That message is still important as we see the uptick in GR activity leading up to recruitment. The sisters in each chapter are PEOPLE with lives and opinions and feelings, so regardless of how you personally feel about a chapter, these women deserve our respect, because they're not rejects, they're members of our community. We've been through a lot of transitions since the original post, but it's important that we behave as members of a unified greek community.
