four chapters will participate in COB this year. Here's some food for thought on this: One of the chapters participating in COB will be Kappa. They're historically ranked one of the top 3 chapters here, but are said to be falling. DG also participated in COB a few years ago, before they got their charter pulled. After that happened, there was some dispute as to whether or not DG was still a top 2 chapter, but overall it didn't impact them. This COB thing with Kappa can go one of two ways. Either it ensures in everyone's mind that they're falling, or it ensures in everyone's mind that COB doesn't equal being a bottom chapter, it just means having fewer members than the determined total, which is 118. We don't know how many new member spots Kappa has, and we also don't know how many/which chapters also have fewer than 118 members and elected not to participate in COB. So if you're a sophomore looking to join greek life, don't immediately write off chapters doing COB, because there's a whole lot we don't know.
