Let's not try to spread rumors two days before recruitment, people. I'll break it down for you this way: On a national level, it's common for chapters to ask girls not to participate in recruitment for a few reasons. Some actives are asked to help match girls, some are off doing "research" ie. stalking PNMs on social media to see how they present themselves, and others are asked to stay in the kitchen and not be seen by PNMs. Those are usually the sisters the actives are embarrassed by, whether it be for their reputation, looks, or anything that could look bad to the PNM. When we're talking about GW, let's remember that this is not a big state or southern school where recruitment is intense. We don't have giant mansions where we hide actives we're embarrassed by or anything like that. Many of the chapters at GW actually have national rules where it's a requirement that every member of the chapter participate in recruitment. Lots of actives at GW try to find ways to get out of recruitment because some just don't like doing it. Other chapters have to ask actives to come in for half days of recruitment because the rooms in Marvin Center can get too crowded and reach capacity which is never a fun time (it gets too hot, there isn't space to move, it gets too loud...you get it). With recruitment starting Friday, let's stay away from starting rumors about specific chapters. At this point it's an obvious move to try to make other chapters look bad.
