Been a part of this for only a year so I might not have the best opinion but I think it’s worth it. Biggest pro is having a huge reliable social circle to rely on and meeting a ton of new people. You’ll bond with your pledge class (just stay away from the extra hazy frats... very sus.) It really does stay with you for life if you’re involved. Biggest con is that a significant portion of them (guys and girls) are immature and toxic. The bar is set pretty low and most non Greeks look down on Greeks for that reason. A bunch (but not all) of philanthropy/non booze fuelled events are ridiculously boring. The other thing to consider is that it can cost you like up to $5,000 to be a part of this over 4 years depending on the organization. To answer your questions directly - lots of dudes are as toxic and mentally infirm as this website makes it seem but some of the frats (one top tier and the newer ones) are genuinely diverse. Nobody at UWO looks up to Greeks unless they only care about partying and getting girls, lmao. But sorority girls definitely hold them in high regard. The verdict - Join in if you go to Rush events and you get along with the people there, and if you feel as though they’ll actually be a positive influence on your characterr and career. At the end of the day you are capable of changing the image the Greek scene currently portrays. Cheers
