Because people at the school just like life need to feel apart of a group. They join the groups and are briefly happy. But they look at the four years of college, four years goes fast, they fear that they made a bad choice, that they could have been better, gone somewhere better looking, more fun, more successful, more liked. They then spend their four years in a paranoid stupor constantly trying to justify to themselves that they made the right decision because everyone else made a bad decision. Instead of just trying to be happy in this time by finding people you like to be around and spending that time with them, they will spend it on places subconsciously worried about choice. Of course not everyone at W&L or in life is like this, there are a lot of happy students here they don't really care where they went, it's just another part of the four years, they made a decision and enjoyed what came, they didn't spend waking nights worrying about it. The people on Greekrank, or the people too afraid to venture out of their Greek houses in fear of seeing what they could of done, they're the people who will won't adjust, who will cling to these four years and their letters, fearing their wrong when they could have just accepted whatever transpired and been just a bit happier.
