I do think rush here is competitive, but not as much so as places like Ole Miss or UT where it's all about who you know and having girls in the house/advisors pulling for you. I came into USC with no connections and rush worked out fine for me, so in that sense I think it's less competitive. All the houses have different personalities! I wouldn't say any are particularly "Southern" but when you go through rush you will get a feel for each chapter and see if what they have to offer aligns with what you're looking for in a sorority.
