Another Southern PNM

I've read in a couple of places online that sorority recruitment at USC is the closest thing to 'Southern' rush outside of the South and Texas. And definitely the most competitive on the West coast. Is there any truth in that description? Are there any chapters there whose culture is closest to a Southern sorority, or are houses at USC just too different to compare? I am a legacy to a chapter at USC and I want to have the big school sorority experience, but my primary criteria for college is obviously quality of academics, hence my interest in heading out to Southern Cal.
