<strong>Subject:</strong><br />SX Alum, commentary<br /><br /> Poster Message:
I was SX back in the 80s. My son was SX and recently graduated. I found this site and thought I'd offer up this commentary: The row in 2022 is more vibrant than I've ever seen it. When I was there, there were four defined top houses, in no particular order: Sigma Chi, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Beta Theta Pi and Alpha Tau Omega. The next tier, again in no order, was Phi Delta Theta, Phi Psi Omega, Phi Gamma Delta, and Delta Tau Delta. The lowest tier was Tau Kappa Epsilon, Sigma Nu, Lamda Chi Alpha and Sigma Epsilon Phi. Now, you will notice many of those "top" names no longer exist, and the houses that were the "bottom" 40 years ago now rank as some of the "top" at USC. It's all quite fleeting though. I tell you all this really as a cautionary tale. The actions you all take today will have long lasting effects. If you truly care about brotherhood and care about your houses for the long haul, don't be morons. The top houses today may very well be gone in 5 years. The guys in the "bottom" houses may very well end up being your boss in 3 years. In summary, be nice to one and another, make contacts across houses, and don't let hubris ruin the opportunity for future students to enjoy what you were so lucky to have. I'm lucky my house has survived, but it's been suspended 7 times in 40 years. It came very close to getting eliminated more than once. This is the best time of your lives. It only goes down hill from here. Don't be jerks.
