That was a joke. As long as you attend all the parties you are invited to and generally follow the rules of recruitment, you will very likely receive a bid. Everyone who reaches the Pref round and ranks all the houses they were invited back to (I.e. doesn't "suicide," or put only one house on her bid card when she attended two prefs) is guaranteed a bid. I don't think there are many girls who are entirely released from recruitment (that is, the vast majority of people are not dropped by every single house)
