Although I am not in either fraternity but still in a consensus top tier fraternity Sigma Chi is considered in the top tier. TKE is NOT in the top tier, some consider them the top of the middle tier but do not be fooled by their self ranking. TKE never has been considered top tier and probably never will. However you may still want to rush TKE as a fall back, it is easier to get a bid from them than the 3 consensus top tier fraternities of Sigma Chi, Lambda Chi Alpha or Phi Psi, It is very difficult to get a bid from those three houses, they turn away more rushees than they give bids to If you get a bid from one of those three it is like winning the lottery. TKE are known as blanket bidders so they will be an acceptable alternative along with ZBT, Phi Delt, SN if you are not quite top tier material.
