Greek life at UBC is honestly disappointing. Fraternities seem like nothing more than a way to buy friendships, and many of their members were likely outcasts in high school trying to reinvent themselves in university. The more effort someone puts into their frat, the clearer it becomes that they struggled socially before and don’t really understand genuine friendships. The culture feels superficial—full of self-serving individuals who wouldn’t hesitate to turn on you when it benefits them. Sororities at UBC seem to revolve around their connections with fraternities rather than genuine sisterhood. The culture is shallow, prioritizing how many frat guys they can be with rather than building meaningful friendships or personal growth. It creates an environment that feels transactional and performative, where self-worth is often tied to male validation. The entire system fosters a toxic cycle that does little to empower its members.
