^ depends. If you post yourself on a ubc page like those freshman @ubc2026 pages, and a girl in a sorority messages you and starts asking you to rush, that’s dirty rushing, because they have targetted you and are going to keep their eye on you when you enroll, that leverage on its own is just wrong. If you have announced yourself as rushing and the actives who are handling that start following you such as the rush chairs or recruitment people, that’s not a good look. But technically, if a girl just follows you on IG because she saw you as a new student, she can claim it was because she saw you in the same program or instinctively followed you, because there’s absolutely no way to prove their intent, especially if they had no idea you were rushing and aren’t the recruitment chairs. The general rule is don’t follow girls during recruitment, but if you’re already following them, and had no idea they were rushing cause u as a member had no previous way to see it, it’s fine. Cause then we’d just be insane if we didn’t allow any sorority girl to follow anyone during the summer cause they “COULD” be rushing.
