I’ve rlly been thinking about joining a sorority because I struggle to make female friends but not for the reasons you might think. I was bullied a lot in high school by this group of popular girls. They honestly made my life hell and I’m not trying to be dramatic but I’m still kind of traumatized from it even though I graduated 2 years ago. I won’t get into the details but they spread awful rumours about me, turned people against me, and just some of the worst of the worst that I don’t want to get into on here. It really affected my mental health and I’ve struggled to make friends that are girls since then. I’m open to the idea of joining a sorority but I’ve heard mixed opinions and experiences from a lot of people. Some girls say it’s the best thing they have ever did and others girls say it was super a toxic environment that was similar to high school. I’m scared I’ll have a bad experience that’s similar to my high school experience. Also from the things I’ve read on this site I’m a little reluctant to willingly enter an environment like this. I’m not trying to sound pathetic here but after going through what I endured I don’t think I could ever go through something similar again (you really wouldn’t understand unless you knew all the details). On the contrary, I do think I could really benefit from having a positive experience because like I said I don’t have many female friends and I’ve sort of been depressed since high school (lol). But there’s no guarantee I will have positive experience. Do you guys have any advice on what I should do? Please don’t be mean. I know this is probably not the site I should be asking but I’m just genuinely looking for some advice.
