Subject:
Truth about “sisterhood” in sororities

Poster Message:
At the end of the day, “sisterhood” is a joke. 3 years in the Greek system and friends in most of the sororities, any chapter you go to, it’s the same thing. Every single sorority is made up of “friend groups” and girls typically are only close with girls in their friend group. What really happens in sororities? Backstabbing, constantly bad mouthing each other, constant and I mean constant gossiping about your so-called sisters. I know girls who have been so harshly bullied by their sisters and it really sickens me to see the same bullies being the ones to upplay their sisterhood on Instagram. Insults, body shaming, “call outs” on finstas, and girls purposefully trying to get their own sisters in trouble. I get it, girls are competitive in nature. You may hear about the “top 4” and sorority tier system but within each sorority is also a tier system, with the most popular, most conventionally attractive girls at the top and vice versa. It’s high school all over again. Deny this all you want, but you know it is true. You’ve experienced and heard of all of these things and you’re lying if you say you haven’t. Sororities work so hard on trying to paint a pretty picture for PNMs without even trying to address the issues within their own chapter first. STOP the bullying and gossiping. The majority of it happens behind backs but that NEVER makes it okay. The point of university is to leave that high school stuff behind, not bring it back. Since joining 3 years ago, I wish I could say I’ve seen positive change but I haven’t. Every year it’s gotten worse. Is that why our Greek system is crumbling and falling apart?
