This was obviously made by a girl currently active in a sorority that is unhappy with this decision, not a PNM. The reality is that universities across North America have had to drastically change how they're delivering classes in the fall, and if UBC Sororities were to hold formal recruitment as per usual, there would be major backlash both from the university and the general public that would harm the existence of UBCS anyway. Everyone is making do with the situation - switching to online classes, having virtual events, etc. - UBCS is no different. Also, sorority formal recruitment in and of itself is kind of a sucky process. It's brutal if you're in a srat and have to spend days training and hours in the room putting on a fake smile, and it's brutal if you're a PNM. I don't know why we're glorifying a process that most sorority members agree kind of sucks and is outdated anyway.
