Maybe if it makes you feel better, I don't think most people who applied to rush probably received bids anyway. Even if some people voluntarily chose to not proceed further, someone interested not getting a bid for a frat (or even a formal rush invite) is not unheard of. I remember some form that contained a partial list of rushees, and most people on that list didn't end up joining.
