You will always have people who don't understand the Greek system. These are the types of people who never even bother to try to understand. These are usually the only people who speak ill of the UBC Greek system all the time. For the most part, I'd actually argue that the Greek system has a generally favourable reputation at UBC. Generally speaking, you'll run into Greeks in the majority of student governments, organizations, and philanthropic events. Beyond that, the Greek system kind of runs without interference from the rest of the student population. It's not like the Greek system receives constant bad press like at many schools in the States. The Greek system goes on about its business, as does every other student group/organization/constituency. With that said, the Greek system is consistently growing larger each year. Reputation can change each year. If you end up joining and you want it to have a positive reputation - make it that way.
