Im sorry to hear that and I'd really hope you can still come through recruitment and get a different perspective. I honestly understand how you feel, because if i was rushing i'd feel the same way. But reality is that this site is not representative of what our greek system really is. I had never even heard of this site, and i bet most people now know bc of all this drama going on. But don't trust greekrank, just don't. No one posts in here, I do now because I want to encourage people to rush (sororities and fraternities). Reality is that sororities in ubc are not the same as in the states. But that doesn't mean they're not pretty cool. The president of the AMS (or student government) is in a sorority, and so are many of our many influential people on campus. A lot of our students have gone on to doing amazing philanthropic projects, some to the level of outside British Columbia. We have a lot of people in Honour Societies, and we also have a lot of connections with our fellow networks in both Canada and USA. In terms of the social experience it's great and there are a lot of things to do. Most sororities and fraternities are involved with UBC REC in sports leagues and other stuff of that sort that is a lot of fun. People actually support other organizations and go to their philanthropy events and actually have a great time. There are quite a lot of things to do and if there is one thing I would never regret is joining a sorority.
