Hey y'all A big part of why theres a struggle for housing is because UBC is on unceded terrority. Because of this, there is a certain amount of infrastructure that can be built on campus, and those spots are filling up. We could buy houses/space on campus and renovate for sure, however because of the low capacity/high cost, I'm not sure it would be a good investment for any chapter. Additionally, we could go off campus, but Point Grey has some of the highest cost of land in Canada, so again, potentially a bad investment considering you would have to go past Pacific Spirit park to get a theoretical greek row, and then we would be extremely far from the frats. ALL IN ALL, a big part of why we don't have houses is due to the climate of real estate in Vancouver, combined with limited space on campus.
