If you don't have a ton of money, joining a sorority probably isn't for you. Dues can be anywhere from $1000-$1300 a year, and that doesn't include extra things like clothing, outings etc. A lot of people in the Greek system do work part-time jobs during the school year, but a lot don't and there is sometimes unspoken pressure to spend money on dinners/meals out, buying a lot of stuff for your little during Big/Little week, stuff like that. If you are struggling just to pay for dues then you'll feel even more stretched and stressed out. There are other organizations on campus like SISU (which is an outdoors all-girls club that plans hiking/yoga/outdoorsy stuff for girls and they seem to have a great community) or the women's centre that still give you a rad female community without having to pay for a sorority if you want something like that :)
