Subject:
rushing in 3rd year is it a good idea?

Poster Message:
I'm looking for some insight into rushing a fraternity. The brotherhood aspect has always appealed to me, however I hear horror stories about first year pledges barely passing. Is that because they're first years and don't know how to manage their time or is it because joining a fraternity is that much of a time commitment. I plan on taking five 3rd year level classes per semester and need to ensure my GPA is very high as I intend to apply to grad schools later on. Do fraternities take away alot of time from academics or do they understand if you prioritize studying over certain social gatherings.
