Some houses cut earlier in the process, most do their biggest cuts the round just before preference. For preference rounds there can easily be up to 150 girls still invited to a house. The houses know that most of these girls have two other houses they are attending for pref so they don't want to cut their lists too short. Keep in mind the size of each houses pledge class is determined as a percentage of how many girls are going through recruitment. Panhel establishes this quota. If a house has more room for girls, they will extend further bids to girls once all the formal bids have been extended & accepted. A house can only then offer a bid to a girl who was not matched with a house after pref. A house may also wait for spring rush where it is a more informal although competitive environment. A PNM has the best chance of getting a bid by keeping an open mind through the whole process. The girls in the houses DO really know who would be happy in their sorority. Go with the flow!
