Sorry to hear this story. Looks like many were impacted by the zoom experience and I hope it is looked at by Panhel and adjustments made accordingly. Suggest telling your daughter she is not alone in what happened. She sounds like a great girl and there is no doubt a home in one of our great houses. Tell her to hold her head high and do the best she can to network in the dorm and in her classes to continue to meet people in many houses. Once activities resume also suggest joining to meet people and head to the gym too! Cob will be happening at some point and I hope the failings of zoom rush are fixed as too many people fell through the cracks. Above all, don’t give up! Focus on making friends and meeting as many people as possible. Also if you didn’t get recommendations it might help too, depending on the house. A few of the forward thinking organizations have banned legacies but others still have that tradition. It’s a crazy time and you never know the trick that will best work for you. Also, refocus your daughter on how she tells others about herself as this is impt. Sure you need a good resume and it sounds like she had much to offer but it’s super impt that she be able to share her story and connect with others, even if it’s in an awkward format like zoom. This sounds a bit crazy but suggest practicing zoom calls or FaceTime calls to deal with how odd the overall experience is for so so many people. So sorry to hear this happened and I sincerely wish her the best as she sounds like she would be an asset to any house! Best of luck!
