There are several factors that play into Quotas. Each house has a maximum capacity of live in sisters because of the house size and how many it can accommodate. 1. Depends on how many seniors will be leaving the following year 2. Depends on any active who is not returning to school. Because of transferring or change of education plans 3. Depends on how many have completely dropped whether during pledgeship or after initiation from the previous year If there are 40 seniors ( typical pledge class size) leaving, the quota will be 40, BUT each house will add extra to make up for any that will drop . If there is a local Lafayette commuter girl- she’s a bonus - an extra member who’s not living in. Most houses require the actives to live in 3 years, but some get burned out by the time they’re seniors, so they quit or will have to deactivate- which in my opinion is so stupid. Purdue Panhellenic and each sorority should allow their seniors to move out if they want, yet still be required to participate. This will allow larger pledge classes and opportunity for more girls to join a sorority.
