Total, or the max number of members per chapter, is not a preset number either. It is adjusted after recruitment to reflect the most current membership numbers. Larger new member classes means Total is set higher. Neither Quota nor Total exist to limit the membership sizes of sororities in general, their only purpose is to maintain equity among the chapters.
