ZETA BETA TAU - ZBT is a very good fraternity at Illinois. They are extremely well rounded, with very academic, athletic, and social guys. Their standard member is a representation of the Fraternity Man. They have and always have had very good bar pull. Their sorority relations are good and they are well liked. Their socials are decent, but not anything outstanding. Overall, they are very reputable and seemingly content with their status. While liked by sororities, they have the occasional oddball or try hard kid who scares away girls. They seem to be very focused on socially climbing rather than just being a good frat. Despite this, they are a good house at Illinois with a big house and very good location. ALPHA TAU OMEGA - ATO is in a tough spot plain and simple. In past years, they were among the University’s best chapters. Their 24’s class really bookended their golden days, and every class since has just plummeted the quality of guys. They also suffer from IFC sanctions, a probation in 2020. They operate like a Southern fraternity and have a reputation for being jock-type meatheads and aggressive drunks. This is how they’re viewed by sororities recently. They have social events that are obscure, but they do have unique and fun date events. They maintain a premier bar pull, with AGMs and Managers as well as a lot of tenders. Their house is very nice and large, but in a hard to reach location. Overall, not much is expected from ATO, and their reputation will likely wane as the last of their dying breed 24s graduate and leave the house in the hands of their young. Unfortunate but part of the Greek life cycle. PHI KAPPA PSI - Phi Psi is a standard Midwestern frat. Very diverse and not many obstacles to obtaining membership. They are the University’s largest fraternity, and have a very large reputation to uphold. Despite this, Phi Psi has one of the worst reputations among sororities despite having relationships with most of them. They have a large number of socials, but their biggest is FROST, which allegedly was better in the past. They do have a good bar pull though, which is due to their overwhelming amount of guys. They have one of the best houses on campus and an unbeatable location. Overall, Phi Psi is a solid house with a hand in everything. PI KAPPA ALPHA - Pike is very much a Midwestern version of ATO. Their quality of classes has decreased since the 2010’s and they probably have the most controversial reputation among sororities. Currently, they have members in the IFC all the way up to President, which helps them maneuver any violations they conduct with the University. They have a very mediocre bar pull, with most of their tenders consolidated to a single bar. Their house is their biggest asset, however concerns about them maintaining the mansion have risen as their relationship with Hugh Hefner’s estate has come into question. One thing Pike does best is play host to influencers like Nelk and the Boysof98, though this may not be enough to help their reputation. Overall, Pike is a very good national fraternity but their chapter at Illinois falls short of maintaining this position.
