^ this is true, i know that there are policies for certain sororities though that make them automatically have to get a bid if they get to a certain round. this doesn't mean that she won't be dropped by either house but it can help after a certain point in the recruitment process but lol yeah the fact of the matter is that there are too many sororities that rush mostly girls that they already know from high school or have some connection to because that's just how it is (not necessarily a bad thing but can be frustrating for people who don't know people at this school already) so since your sister and mom didn't go to this school being a legacy isn't going to help until later rounds. also the reputation of a sorority at our school is going to be loads different than the reputation of phi mu and chi o at other schools so don't take what your sister/mom are saying about chi o and phi mu and think that it's going to hold true for uiuc too
