1. The PNM numbers are set too low creating a dysfunctional system. 2. If the grade point is 2.8, bar people from rushing. It’s set at 2.5 officially. The “exceptions” and flexibility of the chapter policies create problems for the University and the girls. Unintentionally, it's institutional psychological hazing. Additionally, some people take harder classes and/or are heavily involved in sports in the fall because they are actually here for an education and other things. It takes a minute for these kids to realize the pros and cons of freedom away from their parents. 3. It takes the University some time to approve accommodations for people with learning differences like dyslexia. Some people just see 2D differently than 3D so it makes academics difficult until their system is in place. If they were admitted to SMU they will do fine in life, but it will take them longer to read. Their IQs are typically high. It’s just a difference.
