EVERY sorority EVERYWHERE favors girls they already know, or know of, not just SMU. It's their choice and their right and there is nothing wrong with it; it's completely fair for them to pick their members based on whatever criteria they want to use. Sororities are not honor societies where the best grades get you in or if you can tick off a bunch of boxes in the achievement or looks category. It is a lot about who you know, so accept it and know that it doesn't make you inferior. Sororities are social clubs, and if you don't get into a certain one it isn't personal or mean that there's anything wrong with you, so get over it and go where you are wanted. If all of you who think you are 'top tier' girls will accept your invitations and bids instead of dropping out then you will all be together in 'top tier' new member classes. Take that bid with an open heart and you could find the best thing that ever happened to you instead of being on the outside and never knowing what could be.
