Oh dear! Threats of MORE posts showcasing a smallish brain-what to do, what to do. Maybe a basic food comparison will make this simpler for the slow learner. Maybe not, but let's try: A girl's pizza event is held on campus each January. There are eight pizzerias, and each makes slices with a different kind of topping. Nobody who signs up for the event has tried any of the toppings before, so they don't know anything about the pizzas and this is an opportunity to keep an open mind and to learn about all the toppings. The best part about the pizza event is that every pie is good! Also, no matter how many girls sign up, if they don't withdraw from the pizza event before the last day, they will be guaranteed a slice and that will be their pizza topping for the next four years. Rules are in place so every different type of pizza has to be cut into the same number of slices, and this is all explained. Again, nobody has ever actually tried any of the toppings before, so they don't know what to expect until they bite into their slice. Everyone is super excited. The event begins. A few girls decide right away that they aren't really interested in pizza. Carbs and gluten don't appeal to everyone, after all, and that is both fine and expected. But others decide immediately that they ONLY want burrata pizza, or possibly mushroom. These girls still haven't tried any of the toppings, including the burrata, but they decide to walk away hungry if they are only offered a slice of green pepper or pineapple on the last day. They are that certain that they will HATE it and unwilling to give either a chance, having met two people in the 200 person pineapple pizzeria and not feeling a connection. Now, it is possible to take a bite, and if they don't like it, return to the pizza event the next year, but they would rather not try those toppings at all. EVER. Ultimately they do walk away hungry. They loudly complain that nobody gave them a slice of pizza, when there would have been one for them if they stayed for it like all the others. It is their loss, because for many, green pepper or pineapple were the toppings they most wanted to try from the very beginning. Others who were offered those toppings found them to be new favorites. The pizza parties were all hugely successful and everyone who stayed was happy and excited. Some of the girls (moms) who chose to leave the pizza event were really mad. They wanted burrata, not pineapple. They were now at a new stage of hangry. SMU should apologize and change. They didn't want pineapple! No, they hadn't tried it (or the burrata for that matter), but WHATEVER, if they couldn't have burrata, they were NOT TRYING THE PINEAPPLE! The pizza event should be shut down! More pizzerias should be added! Anyone not offered burrata should feel excluded with their only options to either leave SMU or to stage a protest! Really? No, it is insane. Get counseling if this is your solution. The sooner the better. \n\n\n\n\n
