Honestly, I am a freshman who went through rush and chose to drop out after only getting called back to one house on Sisterhood Day. I did not drop out because of the “status” of that house, I dropped out because each time I went to that house I had horrible conversations with the girls there and did not connect with anyone I spoke with. I will be transferring to another school come next Fall, but not just because I “didn’t get the bid I wanted”. If girls chose to come to SMU simply to be in a sorority- that was a dumb decision on their part. At the end of first semester I was seriously considering transferring and waiting until the Fall to rush at my new school. I decided to go through with rush at SMU because if it had gone well I could have made tons of new friends and maybe it would have given me a reason to stay. It didn’t, and along witj other major problems I have with this University, I have chosen to transfer. That being said, I am staying until the end of the semester because my mom already paid tuition (getting only 90% of tuition back is still losing $7,200 dollars) and it’s ONLY THREE MONTHS FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. These girls are so spoiled and entitled to withdrawl from the university the second they get cur by the house they wanted. What’s shocking to me is that their parents stand by them through it. SMU is a good SCHOOL- and people shouldn’t jeopardize their education by dropping out of college or even taking a semester off just because they didn’t get a stupid bid.
