When a subprime borrower bought a house he could not afford, the elites took the borrower and the house, repackaged it as a derivative called a mortgage-backed security, then the insurance companies created a credit default swap, yet another derivative. The elites made fortunes and were paid bonuses-after the house of cards collapsed. Nothing has changed. The same people are still producing financial derivatives. Not one of the elites has gone to jail.
