Is Theta Chi around? According to the online news they colonized in September 2018. Great fraternity elsewhere in the SUNY system—I have met several over the past year—but do not know them at UAlbany. A brother of Sammy back in the late 1980s, sometime between 1987 and 1989, told me that Sigma Alpha Mu formed as an outgrowth of a rejected interest group that originally sought to affiliate with Theta Chi. Did not fully understand national-local fraternity politics back in the day, and may even be slightly mistaken. Never thought history would become as important as it has since then. I was mostly a serious student back in the day, and had not pledged yet.
