I totally agree. I never rushed and am so glad that I was able to make friends without buying them. A LOT of the people in the frats, particularly the athlete ones (DKE, Sigma Nu, ADPhi, and Zeta) most likely got into this school due to their athletic abilities and not because of their intellectual prowess. There are many wonderful intellectual, political, philanthropic and cultural organizations on campus where you can make great friends and gain leadership skills... ...just without the stupid partying and alcohol intoxication.
