When all of the Pi Phi rumors were going around about racially biased recruitment, which IMO is WAY WAY less true than the FACTUAL things that happened at SigEp, people were posting about it and writing about it in the YDN after the Rumpus article went viral. Maybe Rumpus will pick up on the SigEp stuff first and YDN will follow, but it really shouldn't take a humorous publication doing it first for the most legitimate news source to write about this.
