1) my society doesn’t do a friend tap thing where everyone picks their successor. We have to come to a consensus on each member of the delegation which is often based on aquaintances or people we know of 2) you should absolutely try society, and you can with YSI. Do that as a backup option so you have the society experience. drop out of you don’t like it. 3) highly recommend that you don’t go into the process cold and not apply to YSI. Don’t be like the Quorum people who didn’t form until like halfway of fall semester because all their friends were doing society stuff every Thursday and Sunday and they were lonely. They literally were just a group of friends who hung out Thursdays and Sundays in the cambridge or in SigEp bc they weren’t in society and only recently became a pseudo society.
