I would unfortunately say just the opposite. I think more often then not, if you get into a top tier, people who are non-panhellenic and even professors are more likely to think poorly of you. Take that comment with a grain of salt; of course, some may think highly of you for it. It's not fair by any means, but whatever organization you join, more often than not the negative comments people have about them unfortunately get tacked on to you. That's why freshmen should cool it on who they want to put up or down because that organization that you do not think highly of could become your organization and those women you thought were "not worthy of having you be a memmber" may end up being the best people you've ever met and you may end up loving them. Additionally, why does it matter what others think? The point of Greek Life and joining a sorority is to create a bond with other women and make positive impact to the community, not care about what the rest of campus thinks of you. But those are just my two cents.
