I think out of all the lower tiers SAMMY is on the rise for sure. Just as someone else has mentioned, they worked hard on their relations and social ties and its being noticed. To the 2nd part of your post, they had this notion of being the "nerdy" frat initially but I feel that is completely untrue today. Few of those kids are prob still there, if not gone completely. In my opinion, they def have the making of becoming a solid mid or upper-mid in the next few sems, since their pledge classes have been getting better. With that being said, you should rush the fraternity you vibe with the most. The brothers are more important than ties, since you can always improve them (like SAMMY) once you are in the fraternity. The brotherhood, is ultimately why you are there at the end of the day.
